Voluntary Reporting Scheme - VRS

In order to simplify the reporting of the shipping industry in the Gulf, EMASoH, EUNAVFOR Operation Atalanta, and MSCHoA will be using one reporting scheme from 17 June 2024.

The EMASoH e-mail address will no longer be monitored from 17 June 2024.

From 17 June 2024, the MSCHoA reporting gate will canalise all European Operations in the wider Indian Ocean region  (Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, Indian Ocean, Arabian sea and Gulf region including the Strait of Hormuz):

Change in reporting scheme

Thank you for using the VRS. You will receive an acknowledgement e-mail.

Voluntary Reporting Scheme

Shipping operators are invited to participate to a Voluntary Reporting Scheme. Voluntary reporting improves the cooperation and guidance EMASoH can provide to ships on the basis of informing, reassuring, and promoting the freedom of navigation. Voluntary reported ships are also prioritized for possible accompaniments with EMASoH’s naval assets and reassuring calls with naval and aerial assets.

Before entering the Voluntary Reporting Area (VRA), 48 hours in advance, or as soon as possible:

  • Inform EMASoH about the timing of your intended entry and exit of the VRA;

  • Confirm the planning 6 hours before entering and share possible changes to the journey planning;

  • Report any suspicious behaviour to the coast guard of the coastal state and to EMASoH.

  • If you should change your timings, please send us an update as soon as possible

The Voluntary Reporting Area

The Voluntary Reporting Area reaches from 15 degrees North up and from 53 degrees East to 63 degrees East.
